The installer delete my user from xp

Unfortunatelly I use my windows xp username and password (not important why) when try to install postgree with this installer (service user textbox).
Then my windows account deleted. (Actually the documents and settings folder exists, and no file missing, but its really hard to recreate the same user environment).

Did you enter your existing Windows user account into the middle set of inputs (service user) in the image below?

If you did, that will certainly cause problems. We should put a warning message here and check for an existing user account so that this does not happen in the future.

IMO you should produce massive warning dialogs if anyone tries to use a name other than "postgres" - to do so certainly qualifies as "advanced" :)

I agree. We will get this changed in the next release. Quite frankly, there is no reason to not use "postgres" for the service and database account. Maybe we will default it to postgres and the only way to change is via an advanced configuration and even then we will provide warnings.

I think we would have less overall issues with the pginstaller if everyone was using "postgres".

Indeed.

I'd be tempted to force the use of "postgres" unless host != localhost.

There are circumstances where someone will need to use another pg user name - those are where they have access to a monster pSQL server, but are not the admin - and these I would think are very very rare, but must be able to function if need be. If host = localhost, this scenario is not possible - so force use of postgres username imo.

Maybe this is the best solution. Simple warning about existing users will be deleted, and another dialog if the default username changed.
