HUD Stats Based On Tourney Type

I'm going to ask for this again and sweep previous disappointments under the carpet. Seeing as how PT3-4 are the only trackers that can realistically identify the different SnG/MTT types it would appear the hard work is already done. The final step is to allow filtering of HUD data such that it reflects the style/type of tourney... not as important for MTTs over 120 players imo, but I can be swayed by evidence.

Both of the current options, filter by cash stake and filter by bet type are applicable only to ring games, there is no filtering for tournies.

I may as well make myself popular by stating that filtering by blind level is not appropriate. Play at (say) Level 5 blinds is totally different for an STT, 3 table SnG, a 20 table SnG, an MTT capped at 1,000 players and/or the WSOP. However, people who play SnGs or MTTs tend to stick to the same (ish) range of tournies and thus are somewhat consistent in their play... that consistency is reflected in their stats.

Given that very few sites identify the type of tournament in their hand histories we have to detect the type based on the information from all of a tournaments hands - the Auto Detection process runs at the end of a tournament and uses all the information we have from all hands for the tournament. That information isn't available at the start of a tournament, or even partway through in most cases, so sadly we can't use the detected type in the HUD while the tournament is in progress. We understand the issue, but until sites introduce more information into their hand histories I'm not sure what will be possible.

Options:

1. A popup asking the user if the current tourney fits any of 'these' types already identified.

2. Key HUD profiles to tourney type so that when a profile is selected PT4 automatically knows what the tourney type is.

3. Provide at least one default filter such that when the word "tournament' (or similar) is detected in the HH the HUD stats are filtered.

I'm sure there are others.

The data given in the hand histories is insufficient in most cases to detect the specific kind of tournament - if it was specific enough we would certainly go that route (your third option).

It is something we have discussed internally and we are going to be looking for a resolution but it is not a small change because we need to make sure that the cache is properly updated when the tournament type is set as well.

My 3rd option was 3rd for the very reason you indicated, the paucity of information in a HH. I'll leave the other two options on the table.

The information is usually available in the titlebar text of the table window (PokerStars).

We use it when we can - but there are plenty of cases where we can't. If the data were all there in the window title for the taking universally, I assure you, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

History is littered with failed attempts to be all to all things. I recommend some additional support for the major poker sites. If the info is there, grab it.

I know how much effort has gone into our tournament detection rules. I'm 100% certain that if there was text there we would not be ignoring it.
